Following the seizure of 1,290 allegedly counterfeit goods, the National Police in Benidorm have detained four individuals who operate four stalls at the well-known “village market” in this tourist destination on charges of crimes against industrial and intellectual property.
According to police sources reported yesterday, Wednesday 26th March, the confiscated goods, which included handbags, sportswear and knickers, were meant for direct sale to the general public and “violated the registrations and patents of numerous well-known trademarks.”
After a firm that protects counterfeit original products and represents well-known national and international brands reported that replica goods were being sold at multiple stalls in the aforementioned region, the police operation was conducted.
Four males, ages 26 to 59, were arrested for alleged offences against industrial and intellectual property after officers visited five locations with a trademark expert present. A fifth individual, whose whereabouts are still unknown, is being sought by the investigation.
