Over the course of the next fifteen days, the Department of Openings will begin a preliminary consultation in order to draft an ordinance that would permit the regulation of sporadic recreational activities in public areas, such as street performers or paella preparation in neighbourhoods and districts.
Caridad Martínez, the area’s head, has noted that many rules at the local, state, and regional levels govern these kinds of activity. According to Martínez, the goal of this new document is to standardise standards in order to enhance cooperation when celebrating events or performances in public areas.
Additionally, Caridad Martínez said that street musicians have been requesting more and more space on the public highway in recent months, particularly in areas like Corredora, Troneta, and Plaza de Baix. In this instance, it has been determined that in order to work with the schedules of the other inhabitants, there must be a 50-meter radius between the artists.
Martínez stated that neighbourhood, cultural, and festival associations are welcome to voice their demands in order to carry out these kinds of activities through the consultation process.
