A phoney link to the AEMET website, which requests user information, is included in the bogus mail in question. The Weather Channel warns: “Due to meteorological warnings for rain, a new SMS scam has been detected where you are sent a fraudulent link that links you to an application simulating Aemet asking for your data.”
You shouldn’t fall for it, of course. AEMET’s website is open and it doesn’t ask any personal information. The Guardia Civil expresses sadness that some individuals attempt to use the good intentions of others who may also be directly impacted by the Dana in such a delicate and concerning circumstance.
