National Police officers in Alicante have arrested a fugitive. The French authorities are seeking the individual, named by Interpol as Sid Ahmed Berrayeh, who is suspected of committing the murder of a man that took place in the French municipality of Saint-Etienne last month. He faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison for his actions.
He was attempting to flee to Algeria and had previously sought refuge in the province of Ciudad Real, where a friend had provided him with protection to evade their investigation.

The investigation commenced in early March when the French authorities issued a European Arrest Warrant and Surrender against a man who was allegedly involved in the death of a man whose body was discovered on February 9th in the French town of Saint-Etienne. The man’s lifeless body was found to have a severe skull injury and traces of strangulation during the forensic analysis.
He was initially located in the province of Ciudad Real, where a friend was allegedly providing him with cover. This information came to light as a result of investigations conducted by the French authorities, Spanish agents, and the Officer of France’s liaison in Madrid who observed that the wanted man was in a constantly moving from one province to another to evade capture and the action of justice.
Eventually, the operatives were able to identify and apprehend the fugitive in the city of Alicante as a result of their investigations.
