According to the Emergency Information and Coordination Centre (CICU), a fire at a private residence in Alcoy (Alicante) has resulted in the injuries of a woman with facial burns and cerebral trauma and another woman with smoke inhalation and anxiety attacks.
The fire originated on the third floor of a four-storey building on Calle Sant Blai in Alcoy. Yesterday, Sunday April 6th, the CICU (Centre for Emergency Situations) was notified at approximately 6:20 a.m. They mobilised a Basic Life Support (BLS) unit and a SAMU ambulance.
The site was also attended by members of the Alicante Provincial Fire Consortium. The fire originated in the living room, resulting in a significant amount of smoke that necessitated the evacuation of other residents in the building. The Consortium asserted that the common areas of the building were impacted by smoke damage.
The CICU reported that medical personnel treated two women, one of whom was 65 years old and suffered from facial burns and cerebral trauma, and another who was 59 years old and suffered from anxiety attacks and smoke inhalation. Firefighters have reported that their beloved cat has passed away.
The two women were transported to Alcoy Hospital by ambulances. The 65-year-old woman’s burns were evaluated by physicians upon her arrival, and they subsequently opted to use a helicopter to transport her to Hospital General de Alicante Doctor Balmis.
A command post unit, a heavy urban fire department, a fire engine ladder truck with a non-commissioned officer, a sergeant, a corporal, and four firefighters from the La Montaña fire station formed the fire brigade response, which concluded at approximately 8:25 a.m. after the blaze was declared under control at 7:25 a.m.
